ROSE MARTIN, VIOLINIST AND FOUNDING MEMBER, has been
a member of Quartet Seraphin since its inception in 1983.
Rose has enjoyed a long career of chamber music playing, having
played hundreds of concerts in formal and informal settings.
She is interested in educational concerts as well as a deep
commitment to violin teaching for the very young.
She is on the faculty of the Symphony Music School at Webster
University where she teaches in the Suzuki
program. Many of her former students are now in major symphony orchestras. In 2001, she received the Artist/Teacher of the Year award from the Missouri Chapter of the American String Teachers' Association. She is also an active free-lance artist on modern violin as well as baroque violin.
She has participated for many years in the Baroque Performance
Institute at Oberlin College as well as Musica Antiqua in
Portugal. She was a student of Edgar Ortenberg of the Budapest
Quartet as well as Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki
violin method. She holds degrees from Temple University (B.M.)
and the University of Pennsylvania (M.A.)
