Formed in 1983, Quartet Seraphin has performed for St. Louis
audiences in churches, parlors, senior centers, city halls,
schools, and concert halls. In 1987, the Quartet presented
its first concert at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.
The group has performed many programs in area schools over
the past eighteen years through Young Audiences of St. Louis.
In 1994, the Quartet produced Haydn
Seek at the Sheldon, the first of its "Meet
the Composer" series. More than 3,000 students were introduced
to Franz Joseph Haydn and his music in this original piece,
featuring Chris Limber as Haydn in a script by Sue Greenberg.
That successful collaboration continued with a production
featuring Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven
Unplugged was first performed at the Sheldon
in March 1996 for school groups. The following year it was
revised for performances in school settings and has enjoyed
much success with students grades 3 through 12.
The third program in the series, Mozart
& Me, features Ben Nordstrom as the young Mozart in a script by Sue Greenberg.
This musical production has been enjoyed by grade school students
in school settings since 1999.
Haydn
Seek has been revised for touring and features
the acting talents of Jerry Vogel as the ghost of Haydn. These
three programs are now available to schools and can be booked
individually or as a subscription, through Quartet
Seraphin.
