wanda becker

WANDA BECKER,VIOLINIST AND FOUNDING MEMBER, received her early musical training in Canada where she was a student of Emanuel Horch and Madame Eckhardt-Gramatte. She began her professional career at the age of eighteen as a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. At that time, she was presented in recitals on CBC radio. After coming to the United States she became a member of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. In St. Louis, she was a winner of the Young Artist competition and appeared as a soloist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Shortly thereafter, she became a member of the SLSO. During that time she was the
violinist of the Rarely Performed Music Ensemble.
Ms. Becker spent three years in Europe studying at the Music Academy in Detmold, Germany. She was a member of the Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra presenting concerts in France, Norway, Switzerland and Germany. She has participated in chamber music festivals in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and Sarasota, Florida.
She is the concert master of the American Kantorei's "Bach at the Sem" series which has presented concerts at Concordia Seminary since 1993. Her solo performances with the Kantorei have included J.S.Bach's "Violin Concerto in E Major"," Brandenberg Concerto #5" and "Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins".
Ms. Becker has performed on the Shepley Concert Series at Christ Church Cathedral and has served for a number of years as concert master of the Union Avenue Opera Theater. Since 2003 she has been the String Ensemble instructor at St. Louis University.
